Aurae sliding louvre screens

Sliding screens

Product Overview

Sliding screens (or sliding shutters) are used in building façades and outdoor living areas to deliver shading, screening, privacy and aesthetics, with increased functionality for the building occupants. The track system allows you to position panels exactly where needed, sliding them closed for afternoon shade or pulling them back completely to open up the space.

We manufacture aluminium shutter systems designed for Australian conditions. Sliding screens can be made from fixed or manually operable louvres, perforated sheet screening or aluminium swaged grating. Both manual and electrical operation options are available.

FAQS

Are louvre shutters fully waterproof?

Aluminium louvre shutters provide substantial weather protection but aren't hermetically sealed. The louvre configuration permits some airflow, which is often desirable for ventilation. Operable louvres can be angled to shed water more effectively. For maximum weather resistance, consider perforated sheet or grating infills.

What shutter infill works best for privacy?

Each infill type offers different privacy characteristics. Fixed louvres at an appropriate angle provide good visual screening whilst maintaining ventilation. A perforated sheet can be specified with tighter or looser patterns depending on screening requirements. Swaged grating offers partial privacy with distinctive aesthetics. Operable louvres give you variable control.

Can shutters be retrofitted to my existing home?

Yes. Retrofitting is possible on most existing homes. The mounting approach depends on your building's construction and the intended shutter location. We'll assess your property to determine suitable fixing methods and structural adequacy.

How do automated shutters work?

Motorised sliding screens or shutters connect to an electric actuator controlled by switch, remote, or home automation system. Rain sensors can trigger automatic closure when moisture is detected. We'll discuss control preferences during the design phase to configure the system appropriately.

How much value does a shutter system add to my home?

Shutters enhance functionality and kerb appeal, both of which influence property value. The specific impact depends on local market conditions, installation quality, and design integration. Well-executed external improvements generally support stronger valuations and buyer appeal.

What materials are best for shutters in Australia?

Aluminium performs reliably in Australian conditions. It requires minimal maintenance compared to timber, resists coastal corrosion, and retains appearance over time. Powder-coating protects against UV degradation and is available in extensive colour ranges, including timber-look finishes for those preferring a natural aesthetic.
